At the last meeting of the Iowa Bowling Council, March
18, 2006, thirty (30) - $300.00 scholarships were awarded to Iowa high school seniors.
Iowa Bowling Council President, Bruce Strom said "Since the
inception of the Iowa Bowling Council in 1985, the Council has awarded 354
scholarships dispersing in excess of $103,400.00."
Scholarship awards are based on a point system: up to 10 points for the
application; up to 15 points for the applicant's essay; up to 10 points
for the coach's evaluation and data sheet; and up to 15 points for the
school official or counselor's evaluation and data sheet.
Scholarship applications are distributed through: Iowa Women's Bowling
Association; Iowa Men's Bowling Association; the Iowa Young American
Bowling Alliance; the Iowa Bowling Proprietors Association; The Boys and
Girls State High School Bowling Tournament; and the High School Athletic
Directors also receive a set of forms via the mailing pertaining to the
Annual High School Team BowlFest.
