ELIGIBILITY RULES

Any graduating high school senior is eligible to receive a scholarship, providing the student meets the following requirements:

A. Must be a current member of the Iowa State Young American Bowling Alliance and be in good standing for the current season. Must have been a YABA member Grades 9 thru 12. (Exceptions will be considered on an individual basis.)

B. Files an application furnished by the Scholarship Fund Committee, giving complete information as required thereon, before February 15, 2007. Application is to be filed with: Iowa Bowling Proprietors’ Association; 2518 Clarkson Avenue; Des Moines, IA 50310.

C. Has unimpaired amateur standing in the sport of bowling.

POLICIES

A. Scholarship funds may be utilized, after graduation from high school, for educational purposes at an accredited university, college OR for training at approved trade schools, business schools, beauty schools, etc.

B. Scholarship funds will be held in an escrow account until applicant is enrolled in an institution. Scholarship funds may be utilized for tuition, room, board or books.

C. Scholarship funds must be utilized completely within 18 months from date of award. Any funds remaining after this time period will revert to the general scholarship fund.

D. Since 1987 the Iowa Bowling Council has awarded 354 scholarships dispersing in excess of $103,400.00 in scholarships. In 2006, thirty (30) $300.00 scholarships were awarded.
